Serving King Jesus

It can be difficult to feel motivated to put great effort into your work or even finish projects when the people that you are doing a job for don't deserve your best. If your like me, it is easy for you to go the extra mile, sparing no resources, for the people you love. On the other hand, when people are not pleasant to work with, want things done quickly and argue about your compensation being too high, I don't feel like bringing my best to the table.

There is a way to stay motivated and give it your "all" every day. With the right perspective you can stay motivated in the times that you don't feel appreciated, when no one gives you recognition for finishing strong and even when you don't get compensated for work that you wouldn't even consider doing as a volunteer.

Colossians 3:23-24 says,

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."

When you serve others, know that you are serving our King who is deserving of our best and this will motivate you to do all tasks with a good attitude. When no one takes notice, know that God takes notice and has already set aside rewards for you that no one else can match in greatness.

The ability to enjoy your work also comes from God. It is best that your work is not influenced by how you are treated or who is benefiting from your labor. Regardless of who you are serving, do your work to the best of your ability because your work belongs to God who has given you the ability to find enjoyment in your tasks and achievements. He will continue to grow you according to His will and when opportunities come you will be ready for them by the workings that Jesus has done inside of you.
